Instructions
Preheat over to 350 degrees F.
Butter an 8” iron skillet and heat to medium heat.
While the skillet is heating up mix the sliced apples with the sugar, cider, spices and salt. Set aside.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Separately whisk together milk, egg, butter and vanilla. Add this mixture to the flour mixture and stir until combined.
Pour the batter into the skillet.
Spoon the apple mixture over the batter. Distribute the apples more heavily to the edges, and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Notes
Add additional flavor to this recipe with my cinnamon maple glaze or serve as it is with vanilla bean ice cream!
